Love? Physical intimacy? Sacred vows? Looks? Like-mindedness? Late-night video calls? Long conversations? Regular Dates? Understanding? Loyalty? Honesty? Trust?
Exactly what keeps a person hooked to another? If you ask me, I have no firm answer to this question. The possible reason wandering in my head that helps to sustain a bond is the firmness or the ardent will of two people who promise to choose their relationship over every rough moment.
They make up their minds that no matter what may come, they'll stand by each other's side till their last breath and not even for a day stop putting in efforts—not necessarily towards each other but more importantly towards the relationship they share. They neither lose the needed strength nor the hope to carry forward the existing relationship with the exact same person every single day.
So, I think it's basically the power of not letting go of the relationship at any cost that ties two people together. That’s precisely how they get the energy to restart their relationship from the beginning after every freaking fight. The mastery of the courage to provide total acceptance of each other's flaws acts as a cherry on the cake. And not to forget, patience is always the key.

But we also need to understand that the ardent will to live together is not just from one's side because if the other one wants to leave or is in confusion, then one should act in a manner of selfless love and let him or her go. An "ardent will" will only work if there is love on both ends, otherwise this ardent will become a burden who wants to get free. Both persons need to pour efforts but not in a pre-assumed ratio. Delete've wondered the same. Now I understand, it's us. As in two people looking out for the relationship. To nurture it, to protect it from the obstacles they face. We care for it, like the little wild flower we found on our pavement. And instead of plucking we thought of just leaving it there. To bloom, to see it again, everyday.
